Volunteer Expectations
Swim meets are run almost entirely by volunteers, so we need your help to make sure meets are successful - and fun - for everyone! As a parent or guardian of a team member, you are required to volunteer for swim meet shifts over the course of the season. If volunteer positions are not filled, team leadership will assign shifts to parents and guardians (starting with those who have not yet volunteered for a shift during the season).
If you are new to swimming, please do not worry if you are unfamiliar with the requirements of each position! While some volunteer positions require special training, most require nothing more than your willingness to assist!

Quick Facts for Volunteers
- Please head to the pool deck to sign in for your volunteer shift (even if you are a second-shift worker) as soon as you arrive so that the team can verify that all positions are covered.
- Volunteer shifts may cover the check-in period prior to the meet, the first or second half of the meet, or the entire meet. When the meet is halfway completed, the meet will pause so that first-shift and second-shift workers can transition out of or into their positions. If you are a second-shift worker, please report to your position promptly to avoid delaying the meet.
- Swim meet organizers hold a meeting for volunteers (generally on the pool deck) approximately thirty minutes before the start of the meet. Please listen for an announcement so that you don’t miss the meeting! During the meeting, you will learn everything you need to know about the expectations for your position, and you can ask any last-minute questions or clarifications. Swim meets require a team effort, so please never hesitate to ask a coach or fellow volunteer for help if you run into any issues while volunteering!
